Two Gals on a Farm
Hi! We are Diana Vech and Margaret Dentlinger, and we ARE Two Gals on a Farm! We met while attending the Growing Farmers training course given through Community Crops here in Lincoln, NE. Both of us had the strong desire to grow the best tasting, most nutrient-rich food we could – and have fun doing it! We have banded together to try to create highly- efficient systems that regenerate the soil while producing a bounty of food. We use only natural pesticides and herbicides, and those sparingly, pulling grass and weeds with our (bare or gloved) hands!
Our farm is located at Prairie Pines incubator farm at 112 th and Adams here in Lincoln. We also have supplemental plots in the city of Lincoln. Two Gals has larger plans for the future, but right now, we are learning every day about plants, soil, weather, bugs, and weeds. We are also learning a lot about ourselves – how our strengths complement each other, what challenges each growing season presents, what our strengths and weaknesses are, and, in the process, have become great friends. We could not have done any of this without the help and support of our personal families and our farming families.
Our backgrounds include biological studies, gardening, food preparation, marketing, and home management. All of these help us to create a business that continues to grow – and we are grateful for our customers! Two Gals is excited to join Gary in offering our products online as we all work through the current climate of change. We are also interested in any suggestions you have about herbs or vegetables you would like us to offer, maybe something you haven’t had since your youth or just can’t find fresh in stores. You can also find us as a weekly vendor at the Sunday College View Farmers Market at 48 th and Prescott. Two Gals’ vegetable and herb selections at the Sunday market may vary from our weekly online offerings – so if you see something you like here and want it, please order it! At the Sunday market, we also sell a wonderful assortment of jams and jellies and baked goods. So, stop by, say ‘hello’ and see what we have!
